The AHF Teens of Pro-Life (TOP-Life) Club began in 2004 as a social justice club. The student members decided quickly that the most important issue of our day is abortion—the deliberate ending of innocent and defenseless human lives. How do we combat this?
There is widespread ignorance today, due to a lack of truth and clear information about what abortion is—the death of a precious human soul--and the terrible effects it has on women, men, abortion workers and society.
The club decided, after consulting the diocesan pro-life office, to post pro-life highway billboards along Route 85 in southern Connecticut to start filling the desperate social need to educate the public about this deadly public health issue that the mass media routinely ignores. 40,000 cars per day pass each billboard and can read our message.
We also sponsor pro-life coffee houses three Saturday nights each year at the school, featuring student and guest performers and guest speakers. We promote the creative use of talent to further the pro-life, pro-family cause. We occasionally collect items for mothers and babies which other pro-life groups like Birthright distribute.
Better than this, the club decided to try to influence the visual mass media in order to reach many more people--potentially millions. The students have planned conferences for web cast and are making an original pro-life movie. A long-term goal is a television station to broadcast pro-life, pro-family entertainment, including sports and news, to begin to reclaim our American culture for God and life, using some of the same means by which we have been undermined and misled—the media. Anyone who has ideas to help the TOP-Life Club in this great cause, please contact the moderator and students -- prolifespanish@ahfbaltic.org.
